Partner Program FAQ's

Important questions to ask any data backup service partner.

Is the service fully branded?

Yes. There is no mention of the parent company in the application, web site, management portal or notification process. We have gone to great lengths to completely brand the service, allowing our partners to provide backup service to their clients without any reference to our organization.

How does the billing system work?
There are two billing mechanisms to choose from. Both systems allow for the same pricing and selecting one over the other does not impact revenue or any element of the service outside of the billing and compensation mechanism.

Option 1) Partner configures system to use their organization's merchant account. The system is currently compatible with Authorize.net, YourPay (Chase Merchant Services), BluePay and PayPal Website Payment Pro. The billing system bills the partner's clients directly using the partner's merchant account. For each client charge the partner is charged a fee against a credit card that is kept on file. The partner then keeps the difference between the client charge and the partner charge.

Option 2) Use SyncCom's private proxy billing system to bill your clients directly, then receive monthly distributions based upon account activity. The private billing company securely bills clients and directs any billing inquiries to the originating partner.

Partner fees are the same for each billing option.

Can I control the pricing?
Yes. Unlike many other partner programs, our program allows partners to fully control their pricing. Create coupon codes to link to specific price groups and provide any discount desired. The partner can also create discounts for accounts that are paid for on an annual basis.

How does pricing work for the partner program?
Pricing is based on a per client basis. There are set fees for specific quota sizes. Quotas range from 1GB to 500GB. Each client has a set quota and therefore each month the client and the partner are charged a set fee. We do not offer the ability to buy licenses or large quota blocks to be distributed among multiple clients.

How does licensing work?
Each client account comes with a single license of the backup software. A single license allows the client to backup an unlimited number of local drives or an unlimited number of network drives from a single network source. If local drives are protected an additional license is required to backup each unique network source. The same client can be installed on multiple computers, however, an additional license is required to backup each additional computer. Also, data stored in this shared environment will be accessible for restoration by either installation. A client can be moved from on computer to another but the data from the initial computer must be removed from the server before the second computer will be able to initiate a backup.

How does the notification system work?
The notification system can be configured to send email using any SMTP service. Simply enter the account information and server credentials, all account notices will then be sent through the SMTP service of choice in a completely branded fashion. The partner also has the ability of selecting our private proxy notification service in which all messages are sent via a private mail service and are branded specifically for the partner's service.

Are templates available for the partner program?
Yes. We provides complete templates, including support documents, graphics and site content. The partner can submit a logo and select primary and secondary colors for the site. We recommend that the logo has a white or transparent background. Currently the site cannot be edited by the partner, but we plan to release a content management system for all partner sites in the near future.

What level of client data redundancy do you provide?
We provide 2 levels of data redundancy. This is a VERY CRITICAL question and it is important to note that we maintain 2 copies of client data on separate, fault tolerant hard disk arrays. Many data backup providers only provide 1 levels of redundancy. Read more about other aspects of service redundancy here.

What level of network redundancy do you provide?
The service is supported by a triple redundant network. We have three separate GSPs that support our service. This allows our service to 1) remain available while one or two of the other GSPs are experiencing down time, and 2) optimize our communications with our clients based on their regional location.

What type of network security is in place?
The service is protected by an enterprise firewall that continually monitors for network attacks and network instability. An Intrusion Protection System that is regularly monitored provides detailed reporting on suspicious network behavior.

How secure is the facility?
Our facility is secured by a biometric access system. Further, 24/7 surveillance and on-site staffing assures that only the certified personnel have access and that qualified individuals are available to respond to any network management challenge. Take a facility tour here.

Is the data stored in separate locations?
Data is mirrored to a secure, secondary location. Two fault tolerant arrays provides 4 levels of redundancy across 2 locations.

How stable and reliable is the service?
The service boasts 99.97% continual operation since it's inception in 2003. Availability, reliability and continuity are core elements of our corporate mission.
